Pollution and Skin
Pollution can hurt our skin in many different ways. Pollution as pollen, smoke in the air, smog, UV, blue light, heat or air conditioning, etc… can lead us visual dryness, signs of aging, or in some cases skin disorders or even diseases.
All these types or pollution break down collagen, elastin and also release free radicals. In consequence, we could suffer from signs of aging, inflammation and other conditions as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, or worst, skin cancer, among others.
Talking about skin aging…Did you know that 90% of the visible skin aging is caused by sun exposure and pollution?
Air pollution contributes to the loss of skin moisture and elasticity, and thus starve the skin from oxygen and dry out of its natural oils.
New trends in Anti-pollution cosmetics
While the pollution problem continues to grow and evolve, the cosmetic industry is searching and investigating new advances and technologies for protecting our skin from all the damages that these environmental factors cause, and so prevent premature skin aging.
Besides studies of ingredients in cosmetics products aimed to fight against the damages of pollution and sun rays, lately, there has been lots of progress in wearable devices including mobile apps to measure personalized daily conditions and customize products that react to each person environmental condition.
These mentioned devices could also help developers to create and design suitable formulas for each particular need or might encourage personal formulation concepts. There is no doubt that the anti-pollution cosmetics trend will continue to grow, especially knowing that there is not a simple answer for solving the pollution problem.
